I offer treatment at my practice room in Old Windsor - the most cost effective option for a majority of families. Children usually love coming to the practice as to them it is a cornucopia of toys, books and fun equipment such as big balls & rolls, balance beams and height adjustable benches & tables. Some parents have told me they also like this option because it allows them to focus on their child’s physiotherapy exclusively for the duration of the session.
Another option are home visits within a reasonable distance. Your child remains in their familiar environment and disruption to family life is minimal. Depending on where you live this is a slightly more expensive option as I have to travel to you and bring my equipment along, but it might be your preferred option to help you with your personal schedules & might make your life a little easier.
Visits to your child’s school, nursery or playgroup can also be arranged and are sometimes very useful to liaise with the staff and help them with any issues they might arise relating to your child’s physical needs. You can choose to schedule treatment for your child regularly at school, too.
Frequency
The frequency of your sessions is determined by what we agree would be most beneficial for your child and what is also OK for you. I am completely flexible and do not tie parents into any form of contract or block bookings.
Most children attend for weekly or fortnightly sessions, some children attend twice a week & others only attend once a term or twice a school year to top up their physiotherapy input requirements.
If you are offered treatment by the NHS I always encourage parents to take this up, too. I will be completely flexible and follow your child's needs. We can either let the therapy sessions run parallel or we can agree to suspend treatment until your course of NHS treatment is complete & then pick up again if needed. Never be embarrassed to tell me you wish to stop sessions for a while (or altogether) as I understand that family’s needs change over time & I see my service as complementing and topping up the NHS provision as well as in some cases of course substituting it altogether if NHS treatment is not available or the waiting list is very long.
For the benefit of your child it is best if all therapists & professionals can work together to optimise the efficacy of their therapy input. I will very gladly liaise with your NHS physiotherapist and all other professionals involved in your child's care, but will never do so without your explicit permission or request.
Length of sessions
Children’s energy levels and attention spans vary greatly. Usually sessions last for one hour, but I also offer 45min sessions or 90 minute sessions to meet the needs of your child in the most suitable way.
