TREATMENT OPTIONS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC
HOW I CAN HELP YOU & YOUR CHILD DURING THE ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC
We are all continuing to sail uncharted & at times stormy waters during the prolonged Covid-19 period. Throughout the pandemic I have followed Public Health England rules.
Currently face to face appointments are permitted and no extra screening will be necessary for the time being.
However I would appreciate very much if you could re-arrange any appointments you have made if your child or you yourself start to have Covid-19 symptoms or if you or your child test positive for Covid-19 as I will not be able to admit you to the physiotherapy room.
I am able to continue to offer physiotherapy consultations in a variety of Covid-19 safe ways:
Tele-Health consultations
Face to face (1:1) physiotherapy sessions in a Covid-19 safe practice room
Home visits
Currently we are on a low alert level and therefore a lot of the restrictions have fallen for now.
Should the restrictions change to a higher alert level again then all face-to-face appointments will be preceded by parents filling in a mandatory Covid-19 form (via email) and these will be followed up by a phone call on the morning of each appointment to check everyone involved is still free of Covid-19 symptoms. If cancellations need to be made due to Covid-19 symptoms there will be no charge of course.

Tele-Health appointmentThis allows parents to connect with me via a video conferencing link to talk to me, show me their children's movements, discuss problems/issues, show me their progress & participate actively in online physiotherapy
- I can deliver these consultations via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Facetime or Whatsapp (or other platforms on request). I will set up the meeting for an agreed time slot & send you a link - I (alone) will be in my therapy practice room on a mat on the floor - For babies & very young children I will have a dolly with me that might be helpful for me to show you what to do with your child - I will look at what your child can do & how he/she does it - I will give you play ideas, positioning ideas & instructions for activities & exercises to help with motor development - If you have been referred by a doctor for an initial consultation I will write to them to inform them of my findings & further actions & recommendations - You will be copied into all communications with the referring doctor - Invoicing will work electronically and payment will be via BACS (unless pre-agreed direct invoicing to insurance company) You will need: - a secure internet connection - a fully charged device (or connection to mains power if preferred) - a quiet room away from other family members including pets - a space on the floor with a play blanket, mat or quilt for smaller children or a mat/carpet/floor space for older children in front of your camera - some favourite toys for small children will be helpful so we can engage their interest when we try to get them to do movements, activities etc. There is little current research on Tele-Health sessions for children so I sincerely welcome parental feedback throughout & after the sessions - we are all learning rapidly & you can be part of this pioneering time by giving me as much feedback as possible. Should it turn out to not work well enough for you & your child I encourage you to let me know so I can either modify my next consultation to suit you better or I can offer to see you for a 1:1 consultation. |
Covid-19 safe Clinic Visit- My practice room has been made Covid-19 safe and I can continue to offer direct physiotherapy sessions in the clinic room setting
- I adhere to all current Public Health England Rules and Regulations about the health and safety rules for offering one-to-one treatment and can assure parents that all cleaning and PPE protocols will be adhered to very strictly - I will wear the prescribed PPE as applicable and parent(s) & carers have to sanitise their hands upon arrival. Currently there are no requirements to wear a face mask during the appointment - Children are welcome to wash their hands and/or sanitise them on arrival and on leaving the practice room. - Invoicing is electronically via email and payment will be via BACS (unless you & I have pre-agreed direct invoicing to insurance company) I sincerely welcome parental feedback throughout & after the sessions - we are all continuously learning & you can be part of this by giving me as much feedback as possible. Should you have any ideas for improving the service I encourage you to let me know straight away and honestly so I can learn how to best meet your and your child's needs in these challenging times and make my next consultation better for you. |
Home & School visits- I will come to your home/child's school in PPE as required
- I will wear a disposable face mask if you wish me to do so. - I will require a parking space near your home - You will choose a room for the appointment that has sufficient space. We will need a space on the floor with a play blanket, mat or quilt for smaller children or a mat/carpet/floor space for older children - Please have some favourite toys ready for small children as these will be helpful to engage their interest when we try to get them to do movements, activities etc. - Invoicing will work electronically and payment will be via BACS (unless you & I have pre-agreed direct invoicing to insurance company) Most children can now receive visits at school or nursery again to minimise absences, but this needs to be specifically agreed with their educational setting prior to my coming. I sincerely welcome parental feedback throughout & after the home visits - we are all learning continuously & you can be part of this by giving me as much feedback as possible. Should you have any ideas for improving the service I encourage you to let me know straight away and honestly so I can learn how to best meet your and your child's needs in these challenging times and make my next consultation better for you. |
